Plaza Welcomes Oscar Goodman’s Steakhouse

beef booze and broads las vegasThe now-former Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman has opened up Oscar’s restaurant, with the tagline “Beef, Booze, and Broads” in Las Vegas at the Plaza. Goodman doesn’t own the restaurant, but it is a living tribute to the man with the colorful personality that once ran the city.

At the steakhouse, appetizers such as shrimp cocktail and crab cakes sell for $13 to $15. A 12-ounce filet mignon runs $42, while a piece of salmon costs $25.

At Simpatico, salads range from $7 to $8 while pastas cost $15 to $21. The Zuppa Di Pesce, a seafood stew, is the priciest entrée at $30. One of Goodman’s quotes sums things up nicely:

“My approach to food and service is the same as my approach to life…eat, talk, have fun and get drunk! Or, in my own words – enjoy our beef, booze and broads!”

Where to Eat in Vegas, Thanksgiving Edition

Thanksgiving in Las Vegas

We know that Vegas does things differently, but the only difference in Vegas is that they may just be done on a larger scale as far as Thanksgiving goes. If you’re still not sure where to stuff your face, here are a few suggestions:

At the Wynn, Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare offers a four-course meal featuring seared sea scallops with porcini mushrooms and shaved parmigiano, butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and amaretti, oven-roasted wild turkey with chestnuts, sausage, Tuscan cabbage and sage gravy. Frozen torrone sabayon with bitter chocolate and orange is dessert. The price is steep at $95, but if you’re going all-out, it’s well worth it. Reservations are available from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Over at Aria, Jean Georges Steakhouse an a la carte menu is available in addition to the regular one. On the menu is roasted squash soup, roasted organic turkey served with crispy sweet breads, grilled figs with fresh mozzarella and spiced pumpkin cake.

Finally, a personal favorite of ours, The Buffet at Bellagio. Guests can enjoy a whole roasted free range Tom turkey, or get adventurous with a roasted garlic rubbed Kobe top round, maple seared salmon, or split Alaskan and snow crab legs. Brunch is available Nov. 25-27 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is $32.95 per person. Dinner is served from 3 to 10 p.m. and is $44.95 per person.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Raising Cane’s in Vegas

Las Vegas Raising Cane's locationIf you want to know where to eat in Vegas, you’ve come to the right place. Another highlight in the rapidly-growing Las Vegas food business is Raising Cane’s, originally established in 1996 and brought to Southern Nevada in 2006. In-N-Out was a model for their business, using some of the same concepts as the popular eatery. Raising Cane’s has no coupons or dollar menu, and their menu has not changed for 15 years.

They stress fresh ingredients and fresh, never-frozen chicken fingers, crinkle-cut french fries, coleslaw, toast and Cane’s dipping sauce. Chicken fingers come plain or as a sandwich, between two buns, and can be accompanied by soft drinks, lemonade, or fresh-brewed sweet iced tea. Each restaurant employs between 40 and 60 full- and part-time workers. They have also selectively placed their locations and been careful not to over-expand, ensuring quality over quantity. There are five locations in Las Vegas, and eventually will be eight to ten. Check out Raising Cane’s today!

Bellagio Buffet in Las Vegas

The Buffet Bellagio Vegas“The freshest ingredients are brought together in an exciting display of taste and talent at the superb Buffet Bellagio.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves (which is why we left it to the Bellagio Buffet’s section). We love the Bellagio Buffet and highly recommend it. Live-action cooking stations and food preparation are second to none, and a wide variety of food, including Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and seafood are all represented, among others. Some of the best desserts in Vegas reside here, and you’ll pay for the quality, but trust us–it’s worth it!

We love eating at the Bellagio Buffet, They really have some of the best prepared food.  The Bellagio Buffet is not a smash and grab buffet, but more of a relaxing buffet.  This is one of the only buffets we know of to serve Beef Wellington.  When we eat here, it is at least a two hour (sometimes 4) hour experience.  We show up for breakfast and stay through lunch, or show up for lunch and stay through dinner.  All-in-all, this is one buffet you do not want to miss.
